ISTE 2018 After Hours Party in Space

This information pertains to our Party on the Moon event at ISTE 2018. For upcoming events, please visit our Professional Development page

You’re Invited to an Out-of-This-World Party With NIU STEM Read and Special Guest Andy Weir, Author of The Martian and Artemis!

STEM Read and Andy Weir invite you to an out-of-this-world party where you can explore the science behind The Martian and Artemis through fun, hands-on games. Join us at 1871’s awesome innovation space overlooking the Chicago River. We’ll transport you to Mars where you and your colleagues can work in teams to solve problems to save astronaut Mark Watney who has been stranded on the red planet.

Once you science the sh%t out of Mark Watney’s problems, join a launch team to the moon base Artemis. Play STEM Read’s escape-room style STEM game to see if you can save the entire population of the Moon before it’s too late.

This is your chance to geek out about games, books, and space with Andy Weir and see how STEM Read’s games and free open-educational resources can help your high fliers and space cadets launch into reading and learning.

No budget for a field trip to the moon? No problem! Visit the ed-tech petting zoo and get your hands on cool games and gear that will help you visit space without a rocket ship.
